A non-invasive Glucose Sensor based on mid-infrared laser spectroscopy attracted considerable attention when it was demonstrated during the CLEO exhibition in San Jose, May 15-17, 2018. It was an excellent opportunity to present a technology, which has progressed from laboratory R&D to field-readiness for the real-world applications to the conference attendees. Several visitors recognized this technology’s enormous potential for medical applications. We would like to thank our industrial partners, Vigo System and Boston Electronics for supporting this demonstration during the CLEO expo.
Panel on Commercial Applications for Mid-IR and Terahertz Optics and Photonics at CLEO Industry Focus Program, May 16, moderated by Prof. Gerard Wysocki attracted many CLEO attendees. Panelists Mikhail Belkin, University of Texas at Austin, Garrett Cole, Crystalline Mirror Solutions, Ronald Holzwarth, Menlo Systems, Antoine Muller, Alpes Lasers and Eric Takeuchi, DRS Daylight Solutions offered diverse perspectives on the status of the commercial applications for mid-infrared and terahertz technologies as well as strategies to achieve fast progress towards increased commercial development and viability with respect to commercial market applications. We would like to thank all the panelists for their contribution to this successful event.
